Extra – curricular activities

Education must help manifestation or realization of potentialities dormant in man. It never comes with academic pursuits alone. Wholesome development of human personality needs enthusiastic participation in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities by children. Despite severe space crunch and resultant hitches we encourage students to participate in intra-school and inter-school activities like Science Exhibition, Quiz Contests, Debates, Essay-Writing, sports and cultural activities. We also organize Inter-school/Junior collegiate exhibitions and competitions. 

Students are taken on annual educational tours / picnics to different places depending on their classes and ability to grasp the subject matter of the tour.

Pre-primary section.  

Our Kindergarten section is vibrant keeping the tiny tots engaged in activities which help them to identify own potentials and help them blossom. 

We organize different Color Days like, Red, Green, Blue, Orange and Yellow with focus on different topics like ‘Bottle Cap Stamping’, ‘Planting’, ‘Sea creatures with stencil’, ‘Bubble wrap paper stamping’ and so on. Festivals like Raksha Bandhan, Dahi Handi, Diwali, Navratri, Christmas and Holi are celebrated with zest. Jr. KG and Sr. KG students perform group dances at Republic day and Independence Day Celebrations respectively. 

Healthy Food Day, Sandwich Day, Vehicle Day, Fruit Salad day, Helpers Day, Bhelpuri Day are some of the important events of KG section. On Children’s Day a drawing Competition is held for KG students, and their works are displayed in the exhibition that day. A Musical Instrument Day is also conducted.

Our children take part in intra-school competitions like:

• Drawing Competition
• Akhil Bharatiya Nagrik Vikas Kendra Drawing and Handwriting Contest,
• Kala Bharati Coloring and Handwriting Contest,
• Camlin Kokuyo Art Contest and
• Rhythm Talent Test.

Primary section 

To give a glimpse of the history of the country and to inculcate patriotic fervor in children commemorative functions and competitions suited to the age group of primary children, are held on birth anniversary dates of national leaders. 

Besides several Intra-school competitions, students are encouraged to participate in Inter-school competitions.

Soon after welcoming children to school, in June a Singing Competition is held, followed by English Elocution Competition and ‘Best Use of Waste’ Competition in July. August is the time for Marathi Poetry Competition and Card Making Competitions. September, the month of Teachers’ Day celebration is the time for Dance and Story Telling competitions for Std. I & II; Hindi Poetry Competition for Std. III & IV and Drawing Competition. In October is Handwriting Competition, followed by Fancy Dress Competition in November. 

The children also participate in many Inter-school competitions like:

• Best out of Waste,
• Dance and Handwriting organized by the Department (K East Ward).
• Bhagawad Gita Chanting Competition by Chinmaya Mission;
• Rhythm Talent Test by Rhythm Group;
• Drawing Competition by Brihan Mumbai Mahanagar Palika Education Department- Mayor’s Award;
• V.V. Bhatt Competitions by Children’s Academy Kandivali,
• Drawing and Handwriting Competitions held by Akhil Bharatiya Nagrik Vikas Kendra, Camlin. 

The children enthusiastically join the School Sports Day and School Annual Day Celebration, held in the month of December.

Secondary section

The calendar of events for the secondary section is hectic with activities spread over the whole of academic year.

It begins with a Counselling and Workshop on Good Parenting for X standard students, and a Parent’s meeting of V standard students, entering secondary section, for counseling. 

In July is held Annual General Body of PTA, a guest lecture on Career Prospects for standard X students. In August, Procter and Gamble holds a ‘Mother- daughter-health’ workshop.

Teacher’s Day on September 5th is celebrated in a befitting manner.School Picnic is in October, and Children’s Day is celebrated on November 14th.School Sports Day and School Annual Day fall in the month of December.

Intra School competitions

Various Intra-school competitions are held to help students develop their hidden talents.

 Fancy dress competition in June, followed by Marathi Elocution and Dance competition.. Singing and Handwriting competitions in August. School Science Exhibition is the prime activity in September, followed by General Knowledge Test and Hindi Elocution competition. October is the time for the popular and colorful Rangoli Competition.

As a part of Co-curricular activity, is held several competitive examinations like;  NELTAS (English), Maths concept exam for std. V and VIII; Balvaignyanic examination for std. VI and IX; Scholarship exam for std. V and VIII and Hindi Rashtrabhasa Examination; Elementary and Intermediate Drawing Examination; FITJEE Aptitude Test( for std. VII, IX and X) and  the esteemed Maharashtra Science Talent Search Examination.

Our students regularly win prizes in Essay Competitions held by Arnolds High School, Bhagavad Gita Chanting context held by Chinmaya Mission, and Chapter wise Chanting of Srimad Bhagavad Gita by “Gayatri Mantra Parivar’. They also partake in Group Music, Mono-acting, Drawing and Folk Dance competitions of Education Department of Govt. of Maharashtra and bring laurels to school. Our students are acclaimed participants in V.V.BHAT Competitions held by Children’s Academy  Kandivali.

Our students regularly participate and win trophies in competitions connection with Inter School Science Exhibition (K/P East Ward) like Akhilbharateeya & Kalabharati Drawing and Handwriting Competition. They also are consistent frontrunners in Science Essay, Science Elocution, Science Song, Science Drama and Science Quiz held by Sri Ramakrishna Math on the life of Swami Vivekananda, and Recitation of Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita, Hindi Elocution, English Elocution, Devotional Songs, and  Power-point presentation held by. 

MEA Junior College 

Apart from myriad Intra-collegiate competitions like Elocution, Singing, Dance etc., we celebrate ‘Premchand Jayanthi’ and ‘Hindi Diwas’ to promote awareness of the richness of our national language. ‘Yoga day’ also is celebrated. Since last year the students are organizing an Inter-collegiate fest called TRISHNA wherein Music, Dance, Mehendi, Nail Art and Rangoli Competitions are held. A unique feature of TRISHNA is the ‘Best out of Waste’ competition envisioned to espouse creative use of waste and  awareness of cleanliness.

The students also participate in ‘Brain Bee Competition’ based on Neuroscience, at Seven Hills Hospital, and Science Exhibition at National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) and  K/P East Ward level competitions. 

Junior college students actively participate in intra-collegiate sports.
